I’ve had a passion for creative writing for as long as I can remember. Storytelling is such a vital part of my life, and I’m beyond thankful for every opportunity I’ve had to keep doing what I love. At my university’s newspaper, The Quad, I edited primarily for content and grammar, coached other editors, and learned to set aside my love of the Oxford Comma in order to help maintain the paper’s AP Style. After college, I edited an author’s book of short stories and poems, which he’d translated from Spanish to English. I offered both grammatical and developmental edits, all while trying to maintain his voice.

Now, I’m proud to be part of The 1 and Only team, helping authors present their best work. I’ve spent years writing and revising my own fictional short stories, and I never feel more joy than when I’m figuring out all the little ways to make something better. Oftentimes, a piece only needs a little honing to bring it to that level.

Hi, I’m John Foster—a graphic designer and illustrator based in the Midwest with a deep love for visual storytelling. For over a decade, I’ve had the privilege of working with authors, playwrights, and publishers to design striking book and play covers that capture the heart of a story before a single page is turned.

My passion lies in transforming abstract ideas into compelling visual narratives. Whether it’s a suspenseful novel, a heartfelt memoir, or a powerful stage production, I approach every project with creativity, precision, and a genuine desire to reflect the spirit of the work. Editor/Ghostwriter

Hi, I’m Kate Goodwin—a seasoned writer and editor with a deep-rooted love for storytelling and a background in journalism. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of publishing two fiction novels, and through that journey, I’ve come to appreciate the power of words to move hearts, shift perspectives, and bring truth to light.

Every manuscript I work on is more than just a project—it’s a calling. I bring not only a storyteller’s intuition but also a sharp editorial eye for grammar, structure, and emotional depth. Whether I’m refining a chapter or restructuring a full-length book, my goal is always the same: to help shape stories that are not just clear and compelling, but also deeply resonant and impactful.

In addition to my editorial experience, I hold an associate degree in theology, which has deeply influenced the way I approach my work. I’m passionate about partnering with authors who are driven to create Christ-centered books—books that glorify our Creator and inspire readers to draw closer to Him. It’s a joy and a privilege to help bring those kinds of messages into the world.

Book Designer/Graphic Design

As a professional book designer with over 30 years of experience, I specialize in bringing stories to life through powerful visual design. From custom book covers to interior layouts, my goal is to create a polished, compelling look that captures both the heart of the message and the attention of the reader. I’ve worked extensively with Adobe programs—including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Lightroom—and have developed a deep understanding of how to merge creativity with technical precision to produce beautiful, market-ready books.

Beyond book design, my background in graphic design and digital media has allowed me to work on a wide range of creative projects—from promotional materials and branding assets to social media graphics and presentations. I stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and tools, ensuring each project I take on meets current standards while still feeling timeless.

What I enjoy most is collaborating with authors and helping them feel confident and proud of their finished product. Whether you’re self-publishing or working through a hybrid model, I’m here to make sure your book doesn’t just look good—it feels aligned with your voice and vision.
